BROAD FIELD STUDIO
Hi, I'm Betsy and Broad Field Studio is my creation.
I've always enjoyed being creative and being a part of the art world. Even my major in
college was Humanities - the study of art, music and literature (I tell you that because
"what is that?" was the first question people would always ask. The second question
was "what can you do with that?" The answer: nothing, sorry Dad).
After college I spent a number of years as a photographer working for local papers as
well as the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Avalanche. During that time, I took a
class for graphic design, highlighting Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and I knew I had
found a lifelong love.
When my husband and I were relocated to Atlanta from Denver I took the opportunity to
attend a top graphic design school. When I graduated, having been awarded "best portfolio”
I went to work for Hallmark in Kansas City. I truly cherished my time there but the desire to
have a family took precedence and we moved back to Colorado to raise our children.
Other than design and art, nature has played an important role in my life and I have
always longed to combine the three. In the course of playing with my kids I was introduced
to polymer clay and all the amazing things you can do with it and suddenly all the pieces
came together. I had found my new career.
Combining computer design work (and font creation) with hands-on art (watercolor
backgrounds and polymer clay "scenes") has allowed me to create nature-inspired gifts
that utilize all my abilities.
Graphic design is still a love of mine, especially creating logos, but art is such a broad field
that I feel blessed to be able to combine what I love, to create gifts that aim to bring joy
into the world.
